Here’s a useful tip if you like keeping notes, journals or logs in Notepad..

To automatically get Notepad to add a date/timestamp to your notes each time you open your saved file, just do the following;

  1. Open notepad.exe
  2. On the first line type in “.LOG”  (excluding the quote marks)
  3. Tap <Enter> to move to a new line.
  4. Save the TXT document to your chosen location
  5. Close Notepad
  6. Open your saved TXT file – you’ll see a timestamp has appeared.

Now each time you reopen your TXT file, a fresh timestamp will have appeared, helping you to keep track of your notes.
