Haymoor Middle School, Canford Heath, Poole

IT Service & Support Specialists Tech4 in Poole, Dorset have been working in partnership with Haymoor Middle School in Canford Heath for over five years, helping them to continue developing the excellent IT resources they have available for both the administration and curriculum departments.

IT plays a huge role within education, not only is it now a part of the curriculum as a subject in its own right, it plays an intrinsic role in the teaching of other primary subjects including Maths, English and Science.  With multi-media presentations and the wide selection of educational software available, learning has taken on a whole new dimension, given children the opportunity to really participate.

Tech4 have installed SMART Boards into the classrooms, these state-of-the-art boards enable Teachers to project their computer screens onto interactive whiteboards, they are then able to use virtual coloured pens to annotate and illustrate concepts directly to the board, which can be then saved to computer and/or printed out.

Headteacher Peter Schouten said; “The use of SMART Boards in our classrooms has had a very positive impact on lessons.   The children find the lessons more fun with a wide range of media being presented to them.  The images and information are right up-to-date and this relevance to pupils lives provides a powerful incentive to learn.  Teachers are able to save the children’s ideas and utilise them in future lessons.  There is no doubt about the liberating influence of IT in schools both in the classroom and in school administration.
