The credit crunch hit many businesses hard, with declining sales coupled with increasing costs.  It has become a real fact of business over the last few months, that cutbacks have to be made, but these cutbacks can often be made without any detrimental effect if you know where to look.

IT Service & Support specialists, Tech4 have recently undertaken a project for one of their clients that although was not intended as a cost-cutting exercise, proved to save them thousands of pounds.

Tech4 carried out an IT and Communications audit in all seven of Apple Panels & Conservatories branches across Dorset and Hampshire, looking into the most efficient way to utilise their systems.  By examining the way the phones were being used and making recommendations for consolidation, Tech4 were able to save Apple around £5,000 per annum.

“Immediately we started to review Apple’s telecommunications we were able to optimize the utilisation of their existing systems, including an ISDN 30,  that resulted in the disconnection of several fixed line services and ensured the best usage of the company’s VoIP telephone system” reported Tech4’s Managing Director, Justin Moors.

Reviewing Least Cost Routing options for calls and revising the Broadband packages utilised by Apple allowed for further significant savings, it has also left us with a comprehensive and manageable list of our fixed line services, which will assist us in reconciling and allocating bills.” Commented Apple’s Finance Director, Julyan Coe.”
